Customize Reports and Forms

The Report Customizer functions become active when you run the System/Customize Reports and Forms command.

Guides

"Guides" are the dotted lines you see on the Preview page. They indicate the vertical and horizontal alignment of all elements in a report or form.

Hot Guides are displayed when you open a report or form window. Mouse over the element you want to move. You will only see the Guides for that particular element. Put your mouse pointer on the Guide to display the double-headed "Drag and Drop" arrow. The color fo the selected Guide changes when you "activate" it with the mouse. Click and hold, and move the Guide to move the column or text that is aligned on that Guide.

The following tools are available in customizable report Preview windows and for customizable forms in System/Company/Preferences/Forms Preview windows. Some tools will display and others will not depending on where you are in the report or form and what you are customizing. You can use the tools in a number of ways:

Help F1. Get Help for Report Customizer functions.
Specify paper dimensions. Specify the width, height, and orientation (portrait or landscape) of the paper.
Hide. Hide a column or block of text.
Change Justification. Line up selected text to the left, center, or right of the area guidelines.
Change Text. Display a dialog or text field that lets you change the text in certain text areas.
Restore Text. Restore text.
Change Font. Display a dialog that allows you to select a font and increase or decrease the font size.
Restore Font. Restore individual columns or blocks of text as they were.
Show Freight In Subtotal. Display the cost of shipping on an invoice in the subtotal.
Print Invoice Number Twice.
Underlines In Footing. Remove or insert the underline under the detail footing.
Show Logo. Display the default "logo" (a happy face graphic). Then, right-click on the logo and select "Change image" to browse to your own company logo and insert it in place of the default logo.
Show all guides Alt+g. Show or hide all "Guides." Guides show you the horizontal and vertical alignment of text and margins. Move the Guides to move text and margins. "Hot" Guides show only the Guides that belong to the highlighted element.
Remove all customization. Remove all customizations (enabling you to experiment, print, and start over if you wish).

Drag and drop columns or blocks of information with your mouse

Hot Guides are displayed when you open a report or form window. Mouse over the element you want to move. You will only see Guides for that particular element. Click and hold, and move the Guide to move the column or text that is aligned on that Guide.

To see the Guides for every element, press the Alt+g keys or right-click your mouse and select Show all guides.

Stacked Guides

In a few cases, several different report columns or blocks of text are lined up on the same Guide, or coordinate.

In Show all guides mode, highlight the element Guide you want to move and press the Spacebar repeatedly.
